Case study – Auntie Anne's pretzel store

19.03.2010
Kieran Riley and Conor Dardis of new firm KC Pretzels have opened the first Auntie Anne’s pretzel store in Ireland, in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.

Auntie Anne’s is the world’s largest hand-rolled soft pretzel chain with over 1,000 outlets in 20 countries. The Blanchardstown store, claiming to bring “a new concept of snacking to Ireland” will follow the same formula where the trademark pretzels will be created, stretched, rolled, twisted and baked fresh in store using a secret recipe flour blend and locally sourced ingredients.

Business partnership formed as a result of the current recession

The business partnership of KC Pretzels came about after both partners were made redundant due to the economic climate, from very different roles.

Riley was previously business development manager in the capital markets division of a leading financial institution, and Dardis was the country manager of a global wine brand.

Creating 10 jobs in Blanchardstown

Creating 10 jobs, the Blanchardstown store will offer customers freshly baked sweet and savoury hand-rolled pretzels in a selection of flavours. There is also the new addition of ‘Pretzel Dogs’ to the Auntie Anne’s menu. Made with Herta hot dogs Pretzel Dogs are wrapped in the trademark dough and baked until golden brown.
