John McKenna, author of the 'Bridgestone Guides' to food and accommodation in Ireland, will give a talk on the importance of local produce as part of the Tipperary Food Producers Long Table Dinner next month.
He has been described by The New York Times as "Ireland's leading food critic", while The Guardian has called him "Ireland's most opinion-forming food critic and a powerful commentator on culinary trends". In addition to his writing John works as a consultant to both the food and hospitality sectors.
Only food from Tipperary will be served at the traditional feast from over 30 food producers - all members of the Tipperary Food Producers.
Food lovers will have the opportunity to savour the very best of the Tipperary produce across the four corners of Tipperary on the evening of August 25 where the Long Table Dinner will take place at the ‘Broca on the Water’ Ballinderryin Nenagh overseen by chef Ann Gernon; in Thurles at ‘Inch House’ overseen by the head chef Michael Galvin; in Cashel ‘Chez Hans’ will host the event overseen by chef Jason Matthiae; and in Clogheen the Long Table Dinner will take place at ‘The Old Convent Restaurant’ with preparation by award winning chef Dermot Gannon.
