There is a special merit award for microenterprises and an award for the best example of environmental innovation which emerging companies can enter as part of the annual EnviroCom Awards coming up in the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown region.

Targeting locally based multinationals and SMEs, as well as the not-for-profit sector, the EnviroCom Awards recognise the best examples of energy management, waste prevention, water conservation and environmental performance and innovation in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown region.

Previous category winners have included Vodafone, 3M Ireland, Dell, University College Dublin, Tesco, Pfizer Ireland Pharmaceuticals, Baxter Healthcare and Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company.

“When the judging panel are assessing entries for the EnviroCom Awards, they look for a demonstration of benefits to the environment, originality, replicability,  innovation, and what social or economic benefits  there was to the communities involved,” said Margaret Coles, green business officer with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Enterprise Board is supporting the category for the ‘Special Merit Award for Micro-Enterprises’ and the ‘Best Example of Environmental Innovation’.

There are no entry fees for the 2010 EnviroCom Awards and applications must be received by 25 June 2010. Further details and an application form can be found here.
