Limerick County Enterprise Board (LCEB) is inviting companies with 10 employees or less to enter a competition with a prize of €5,000 “for just 10 minutes work”.
Entrants have to post a 250-word piece on a website specifically created for an event called Fortune 50 taking place on 19 May to convince the audience to vote for them.
At the event in the Woodlands Hotel in Adare, Co Limerick, the six most-voted for businesses will be given 10 minutes to make a presentation on who they are and what they would do with €5,000. Another vote will take place to see who has the greatest vision, and the worthy winner will walk away with €5,000 for their 10 minutes work.
Agnes Relihan, LCEB business adviser, says the board wants to encourage businesses to engage with each other more and generate more business for each other through this initiative.
“Increasing awareness of the range of businesses operating in the county is the first step. Obviously €5,000 is the carrot, but the real result for participants is the boost your business profile will get, as one new contract could be worth far in excess of €5,000,” she explained.
“[On the website] only entrants are allowed to vote, but they can’t vote for themselves. In order to make an informed choice, participants will have to read about businesses they are not already familiar with and that’s how we build the awareness.”
Businesses who wish to enter must be based in Limerick and must not have 10 employees or less. Entry costs €50. This is a non-profit event so there will be a maximum of 100 entries. Click here for more information on participating in Fortune 50.
