The redesign of the Company Registrations Office website is set to save companies time and money when looking up information and making electronic submissions.
At the relaunch of the new Companies Registration Office website yesterday, figures were released showing that 13,321 new companies and 25,750 business names had registered with the CRO last year.
Minister for Trade and Commerce, Billy Kelleher, TD said its revamp would save company directors valuable time and money when seeking information and submitting electronic submissions to the CRO.
The CRO website remains a vital source of information for company directors, with 322,000 documents retrieved and purchased through it in 2009.
In addition, 50pc of all company documents are now filed online through the website. This means filing is done faster and, in 2009, it meant companies saved an estimated €3.6m.
Launching the site Minister Kelleher said: “I am very pleased to see the website has been redesigned around customers’ changing needs.”
The upgraded website has increased accessibility and usability as well as featuring an improved appearance.
Registration of a business name is obligatory if any individual or partnership (whether composed of individuals or bodies corporate or any combination of both) or any body corporate carries on business under a name other than their own true names. Its purpose is to make public the identities of those individual(s), partnerships or corporate bodies being the legal entity behind the business name.
