The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) has added a new addition to its awards – the Sustainable Energy Innovation award – which is open to all types of energy efficient initiatives, including start-ups.
This award is aimed at recognising pioneering activity in practical sustainable energy in Ireland. A winning entry should be instrumental and ground breaking in setting new standards beyond current best practice, with verified achievements that have potential towards advancing sustainability practices.
The Sustainable Energy Innovation award is open to all types of initiatives in any aspect of energy efficiency and is designed to recognise that many businesses are developing new standards and practices for others to follow.
The awards, now in their seventh year and sponsored by ESB Customer Supply, highlight excellence in business-energy management among Irish organisations of all sizes, while also recognising their achievements in cutting energy use.
Entrants in the 2009 Sustainable Energy Awards demonstrated energy savings of €14m, with an additional €18m in projected cost savings identified. There was a jump in the number of small businesses entering the awards in 2009, showing that organisations of all sizes are now reaping the rewards of energy management.
Further information on the 2010 Sustainable Energy Awards can be found here. Closing date for entries is 28 May 2010. Overall winners will be announced at a gala event in Dublin on 25 November 2010.
