Award-winning internet entrepreneur and founder of Web Reservations and Worky.com, Ray Nolan, will be the guest speaker during an open morning on 23 March at NovaUCD, UCD’s innovation and technology transfer centre.
Nolan will reveal the secrets of his entrepreneurial success as part of the ‘Entrepreneurs Live!’ seminar. Within the space of 10 years he established, grew and last November sold Web Reservations International for over $340m to San Francisco-based private equity investor Hellman & Friedman.
He said: “In the current economic climate it is vitally important that we keep positive about business and start-up growth. I strongly encourage everyone, especially students, to seriously think about getting involved in entrepreneurship. New and existing entrepreneurs, especially high-tech entrepreneurs, have a significant role to play in Ireland’s economic recovery and the development of a Smart Economy.”
At the ‘Entrepreneurs Live!’ seminar, organised in association with the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Enterprise Board, Nolan will talk about his experiences of setting-up and running his businesses, emphasising the lessons he has learnt along the way.
During the Open Morning visitors will also have an opportunity to meet with, listen and talk to members of NovaUCD’s successful community of entrepreneurs, including David Seavers, co-founder Aonta Technologies, Owen O’Connor, founder, Cernam and Dr Emmeline Hill, co-founder, Equinome.
The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown 2010 Enterprise Week runs from 22-26 March, featuring a series of county-wide activities aimed at entrepreneurs, micro-enterprises, the recently unemployed and others who are thinking of setting-up a business.
