Basing themselves in Smithfield in Dublin 7, Elizabeth Moore and Claire Doyle launched the label’s first collection for Spring/Summer 2010 this week, which they say focuses on “elegance and simplicity”.

“The label has been created with a strong, single focus in mind. The Elizabeth & Claire label is for women who appreciate the true elements of fashion, colour, fabric, proportion and silhouette,” explains Moore. “The collection, consisting of 15 signature pieces, harks back to a simpler time, where taste and quality was obvious in the cut of clothes.”

More says the pair is actively developing new product ranges to complement the collection and is currently working on a jewelry line. “In order to heighten brand awareness we are in negotiations with exclusive boutiques and high-end department stores which we hope will carry the label.

“The research phase of our creative process is a very enjoyable part of our work. We travel extensively to find the perfect fabric that will translate into the right volume and cut. We look at the best fabrics and try to visualise a shape for them. Through sketching, scaling and collage we find new shapes; this is then translated into patterns and simulated on the dressmaking dummy. We then collaborate with our production team to produce our collection.”
