Celebrity chef Richard Corrigan and Facebook director Colm Long are just two of the high-profile speakers at this year’s Enterprising Donegal Business Week, which runs from 5 to 12 March.
Organised by Donegal County Enterprise Board, the goal is to encourage local people who want to start or expand a business with the theme ‘New Ideas and New Opportunities’.
Derry-native Colm Long, director of operations for Facebook’s European, Middle East and Asian operations and based at international headquarters in Dublin, will kicks things off in Letterkenny, talking about the opportunities Facebook and other online networks create for small businesses.
Celebrity Chef Richard Corrigan is launching a new Donegal Food Initiative, a programme aimed at encouraging food producers to develop their business on the same day.
Doug Richards of the BBC’s 'Dragons' Den' will be appearing in Letterkenny on 9 March to host an interactive workshop on developing a start-up business. Other events during the week include talks on green-energy businesses including a case study from Andrew Parish, CEO of the Irish wave-energy technology company, Wavebob. New technologies and how to organise your business for export will also feature.
The highlight of the week is expected to be the Enterprising Donegal Business Awards.There are 13 companies shortlisted: TM Designs, Durgan Media, Eilish Kennedy Designs, Gartan Technologies, Lee Gooch Promotions, Media Box, JB Interactive Mobile Marketing, Chic-Hens, Aroma, Triona Design, Roadteam and The Villa Rose Hotel, and The Earagail Arts Festival.
