Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Enterprise Board is running a new eight-week Start Your Own Business course on 9 March in Blackrock, ideal for people unsure of how to go about setting up a business.

On completion of the eight modules, participants will have learned how to develop a business plan, incorporating marketing, financial and management strategies. Those taking part will also be given the option of receiving certification at no extra cost.

Eight modules for start-ups

The modules are:

  • Self-Employment & Entrepreneurship / Legal Structures / Registering Your Business
  • Business Plans / Plan Templates / Why some Plans are Rejected by Banks
  • Cost-Effective Market Research / Segmenting Your Target Market
  • Tax: Limited Company V Sole Trader / Calculating How Much Tax You Owe / VAT
  • Sources of Funding / Equity & Debt Finance / How to Attract Funding 
  • Pricing & Cash-flow Strategies / Cash Flow + P&L Forecasting
  • Marketing on a Shoestring / Creative Marketing & Effective Sales Techniques
  • Managing the Business & Employment Law
