Founded by brothers Ciaran and Michael Crean, Mick’sGarage has rapidly grown from its inception in 2004 to become Ireland’s most successful online retailer of over 45,000 car parts and related products within 40 different major product lines.
Initially, managers did their accounts manually, but the Micksgarage's success soon demanded a more sophisticated solution.
“The company was attracting hundreds of customers, resulting in thousands of transactions, and the volume of business quickly exceeded our manual accounting system,” explains Ciaran Crean.
Having looked at the options, he approached Sage and subsequently implemented Sage Instant Accounts, which is an easy-to-use, low-cost accounting and management-information software solution.
Ideal for start-up companies, it doesn’t require any accounting, payroll or forecasting experience.
“We’re able to increase supplier accuracy by matching incoming supplier invoices with specific purchase orders issued through Sage Instant. This enables us to ensure our suppliers have invoiced us at agreed prices and that we only pay for what we’ve ordered and received,” adds Crean.
“Sage Instant’s automatic VAT reconciliation capability helps us to increase efficiency and productivity by taking the pain and error out of our old manual VAT process, while saving us time. In addition, the accurate VAT calculation ensures that we’re only paying Revenue exactly what we owe.”
