Based in South Monaghan, Celtic Pure Natural Water sources its water from Corcreagh, an area of the county that is rich in natural springs. While Celtic Pure was established commercially in 2000, the McEneaney family has used the source for over 200 years.
Since 2000, Padraig McEneaney has continued to expand his bottling plant, from an initial 15 x 9ft area to an 18,000 sq ft facility that is now capable of bottling up to 8,500 bottles an hour.
At the beginning of 2008, Padraig identified an area for growth for the business. Up until then, Celtic Pure had been buying in all of its plastic bottles, which in turn was eating into its profit margins. Padraig looked to AIB and Enterprise Ireland to help him fund the development of a bottling plant which, once completed, helped Celtic Pure increase turnover from 2007 to 2008 by 63pc.
Padraig recognises that when there’s an increase in turnover, there is also constant pressure on a business with regards to cash flow, and that in such times, a good relationship with your bank is more important than ever. Happily, he has such a relationship with AIB Carrickmacross, and its support is key to Celtic Pure’s business.
Celtic Pure had its busiest-ever month in September 2009, and Padraig is looking to the future, with plans to further increase the size of his plant over the coming year. Naturally, AIB will be there to provide support along the way.
