Murphys Ice Cream

04.11.2009
Originally from America, brothers Sean and Kieran Murphy started Murphys Ice Cream in Dingle, Co. Kerry in 2000, after moving to their father’s home country with a view to making the best ice cream in the world.

The Murphy brothers approached their local AIB branch in Dingle with a business plan to open their first gourmet ice cream parlour and laboratory in the town. Since then, they have grown their business into a very successful enterprise; they opened a second shop in Killarney in 2005 and are now distributing their ice cream to a number of wholesalers throughout Ireland, all the while picking up plenty of awards along the way.

As the ice cream business is understandably very seasonal, the brothers have always relied on AIB for their continued support and help as Murphys Ice Cream has become established and expanded. From day one, they have believed that their relationship manager in the bank has been a serious stakeholder in their business, and has always been interested in helping them build their dream together.

In the current times, Sean and Kieran know that things aren’t easy. However, they believe a good relationship with their bank is now more important than ever, and it’s this – along with their passion for ice cream – which is helping them look towards the future. They have great plans of expansion throughout Ireland and beyond, and are still getting the support they seek from their local AIB branch.
