Celebrating 26 years in operation laboratory solutions provider Carl Stuart Limited has reported that online sales now account for almost 10pc of overall sales, allowing it to expand to new markets.

Founded by husband and wife team Stuart and Gillian Smith, Carl Stuart has expanded its product portfolio and technical support services, which they say are the key elements driving the company’s success.  

The product portfolio has expanded to include more than 200,000 parts and the company currently has almost 80,000 of those products available online at www.labunlimited.com. Its 2010/11 printed catalogue contains almost 30,000 of the most popular products.

To coincide with the new business drive, the group has launched new branding, dividing the business modules into Lab Unlimited, Pure Process and The Watershop. 

Lab Unlimited offers fully supported laboratory services, Pure Process offers industrial filtration and monitoring capabilities and the Water Shop provides water treatment solutions directly to homes, offices and small businesses.

“Our core business has been to support laboratory operations on a day-to-day basis. We have expanded our operations from a niche business to a fully-fledged independent organisation offering sales, installation; maintenance and training solutions at very competitive prices,” explains Stuart Smith. 

“The difference in our ethos at Carl Stuart is that everyone is trained in multiple disciplines, resulting in our sales people being able to work effectively with our engineers and support personnel. 

“Our experience in commercial water treatment has also allowed us to offer our commercial expertise to consumers directly.”

The company currently employs 37 people and operates from its own purpose-built modern facility in Tallaght, Dublin. Carl Stuart Limited has been ISO 9001 accredited since 1994 and has also offices in Surrey and Belfast.
