Eoin Blacklock

keepITsafe

Managing director of IT security firm keepITsafe, twenty-seven year old Eoin Blacklock’s entrepreneurial flair came to light in his college years when he and Jonathan Crowe, now technical director, saw a gap in the market to supply a cost-effective backup solution to companies.

The business idea was based on the ethos that companies shouldn’t have to worry about backing up their critical data, from home-office users to large multi-office organisations.

keepITsafe gave companies an insurance policy for their company data, by providing them with an online backup solution that was user-friendly, cost-effective and reliable.

As Trinity College Dublin students, they went about canvassing local businesses to back up their data with 24/seven security. The growing demand for the keepITsafe online backup solution led to the pair forming the company in 2005.

After graduating and establishing a local client base Blacklock sought to increase the company’s market share by setting up new offices and putting a structure to the business. The keepITsafe solution was developed in-house and resides on its servers, giving the company an edge over competitors, according to Blacklock.

To date the company has backed up more than 4 billion files and restored more than 30 million lost files.

“Over the years businesses are realising the significance of securing their companies’ most valuable asset. By outsourcing this function, it gives owner/managers the peace of mind that their data is secure 24/seven,” said Blacklock.
