The basic principle for VAT like all tax heads is ‘wholly, exclusively and necessarily for the purpose of the business’, in other words is it purely a business expense.

Therefore, on the face of it if it is an advertising campaign for the business and the tickets are an integral part, such marketing expenditure may be reclaimable.

Without the full facts, I would include a cautionary note that if there is an element of client entertainment within same that may disallow the claim.
